Battery Testing
Continuous Power Africa delivers precision battery test, monitoring and rejuvenation services and software to monitor results. Battery voltage and impedance are only gross electrical indicators of battery function. They provide limited information about battery health and are unreliable in detecting batteries that are near failure. To reduce the cost and risk of ownership, both the electrical and chemical properties of batteries must be measured simultaneously.

Electrochemical Analysis
The most effective method to detect changes in battery health is by frequency response analysis. Using CELScan™ (Chemical Electrical Layer Scan) technology, Continuous Power Africa has the capability to perform true multi-frequency analysis on Lead Acid batteries.

Battery Recovery
High-impact, low-frequency pulse charging is at the core of Continuous Power Africa’s rejuvenation process. The process takes 8-12 hours and batteries are ready for redeployment within 24 hours after treatment. The process involves a 3-stage charging regime to sulfated cells, culminating in a high-amplitude, low-frequency pulsed charge regime, while carefully monitoring cell temperature to prevent thermal runaway.
Battery rejuvenation / charger systems are used for the rapid elimination of sulfation buildup in lead acid batteries. Our high-current, low-frequency restoration method both conditions and charges batteries ranging from 2 to 48 volts. When used in combination with CELScan™ Electro-Chemical Analysis, we reverse sulfation buildup and restore the battery capacity and general health of the battery system. The technology can also be used for annual maintenance to prolong the life span of your batteries.
Research & Development Laboratory
Continuous Power Africa runs an R&D laboratory with sophisticated diagnostics and product testing for storage and monitoring products. Design and engineering teams simulate field integration to realize optimal technical combinations. The combination of new and old technology presents technical problems, which the CPA team solves in the lab through integration and product development before field deployment. The team has led product development in the telecoms market for decades with recognized monitoring brands like Inala.

Monitoring
Continuous Power Africa is building a NOC for site service monitoring and response to alarms, greatly enhancing capability and efficiency of site management. Analytics enable a level of power profitability beyond the capacity of current systems that rely on human operations and intuition. CPA is building a technical platform to make resource usage decisions that result in lower overall operating costs for the power block.

Inventory Management
Continuous Power Africa’s regional depots store new and rejuvenated batteries, ready for deployment. All stock is bar-coded and tracked, backed up with administration for battery identification and classification. Reports are supplied, providing information on the state, location, destination and age of every battery handled by CPA.
